Thank you for taking the time to read our biography. Within the next few paragraphs you will find an impressive lineup of musicians who are at the top of their crafts.
We call Houston, Texas home. Our sound is a rich mixture of country with a little rock thrown in to give our audience an experience that they won’t forget. Our front man and fearless leader Leslie Doak, has deep roots in the music business. He starting out working primarily in the genre of rock from a bygone era of 80s hair bands. Leslie Doak Band has played thousands of shows over the years. Going back to his roots of country, he reformed his band which boasts some of the most prominent and established Texas musicians. Jim, Geir, Andy and Tim all have extensive resumes. The Leslie Doak band has created a music brotherhood and a fan base they call family.
Jim Embry- Lead Guitar & backup vocals:
At the age of 13, Jim made the decision to begin playing guitar after many years of piano lessons. He moved to Hollywood soon after high school where he attended the prestigious Musicians Institute (GIT). Upon graduating GIT Jim attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he studied contemporary guitar performance. He then chose to enlist in the NAVY where he started his career as a submariner, and then switching to the Navy music program. While stationed in Yokosuka, Japan he toured and performed extensively. He has performed as a session musician and has always been in the bullpen of many Texan bands.
Geir Overland - Bass:
Geir is a native son of Norway, he began his musical journey by playing drums at an early age. Geir learned to read music while being a member of the school band. At age 20, he learned to play bass. It wasn’t until after returning to drums and then giving bass guitar one more try that he found his sound. The fretless Fender Precision Bass and Mesa Boogie amps gave him the sound he was looking for. Geir, has also performed with numerous bands from Norway and Texas.
Geir has said that it is “Better to have stunning harmonies than playing 132 notes in a bar.”
Andy Acuna - Drums:
Andy’s love of music began at age 7 where he would use a makeshift drum made from sticks and an old tree stump. At the request of his music teacher in Jr. high school he began playing trumpet instead of his beloved drums. He would not return to drums until he made the decision to audition for the world renowned Berklee College of Music. It was while attending Berklee that he found himself drawn quickly to all aspects of music. Back home in Houston, He can be found supporting artists from a wide spectrum of musical genres.
Tim Ray- Lead Guitar
A long time fan of classic rock, Tim credits Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton with influencing him as a musician. He first began playing in high school and studied at The University of Houston and Texas Tech. He is a graduate of The Atlanta Institute of Music. As a studio musician, he has played for numerous bands including The Dewey Wayne Band. He has opened for other notable bands of the Texas/Oklahoma region and toured extensively throughout the south andhas opened for country great Doug Supernaw. Tim is also a teacherat Evans Music City for the past 15 years.
